Scholarly engagement with the Indo‑Pacific's strategic agenda
The IPSC Visiting Scholars Fellowship is designed for established academics and senior researchers who wish to engage formally with IPSC's research community and academic programs without undertaking a full research fellowship.
Visiting Scholars attend the core seminar series of either the Master of Pacific and Strategic Intelligence (MPSI) or the Geopolitical Risk Program, and are affiliated with an IPSC research center for the duration of their fellowship term.
The fellowship runs for 12 weeks and is held entirely remotely. Visiting Scholars are listed on the IPSC website and may engage with IPSC's publication and research networks during their term.

Who can apply
The Visiting Scholars Fellowship is intended for senior academics and researchers with an established record in their field. It is distinct from the Visiting Research Fellowship, which is open to a broader range of career stages.
Senior Academics
Associate professors, professors, and senior lecturers with a sustained publication record in strategic studies, international relations, or a related field.
Senior Policy Researchers
Experienced researchers from think tanks, policy institutes, or government-adjacent bodies with recognised expertise in Indo-Pacific affairs.
Retired or Emeritus Scholars
Emeritus academics and retired senior practitioners who remain active in research, writing, or policy engagement.
Distinguished Independent Scholars
Independent researchers with a demonstrable publication and engagement record equivalent to senior academic standing.

Visiting Scholars attend the core seminar series of one of two IPSC programs. Select the track that best complements your scholarly expertise and interests.
Master of Pacific and Strategic Intelligence (MPSI)
IPSC's flagship strategic intelligence program. Covers structured intelligence analysis, strategic assessment methodology, and the security dynamics of the Indo-Pacific. Suited to scholars working in security studies, intelligence, defence, and strategic analysis.

Formal IPSC Affiliation
Listed as a Visiting Scholar on the IPSC website for the duration of the fellowship term. The affiliation may be used in academic and professional contexts.
Core Seminar Access
Full access to the core seminar series of either the MPSI or the Geopolitical Risk Program for the duration of the 12-week term.
Research Center Affiliation
Placement within the IPSC research center most aligned with the scholar's area of expertise, with access to center networks and working groups.
Publication Opportunities
Access to IPSC's publication channels for commentary, policy briefs, and working papers — subject to editorial review.
IPSC Research Network
Integration into IPSC's broader scholarly network, including access to events, working groups, and collaboration with IPSC researchers and fellows.
