Call for Panels – State of the Indo-Pacific Conference 2025
The Indo-Pacific Studies Center (IPSC) invites submissions for panel proposals to be featured at the State of the Indo-Pacific Conference 2025, our flagship Track 1.5 dialogue bringing together senior policymakers, scholars, business leaders, and civil society actors from across the region.
We welcome panels that address core conference themes, including sovereignty, strategic autonomy, regional governance, and post-hegemonic cooperation. Panel proposals should align with one of the following confirmed thematic areas:
Day 1: Strategic Crossroads — Navigating Fragmentation and Rivalry
- Panel I: Hegemony in Retreat? The Future of US Engagement in the Indo-Pacific
Topics: Strategic ambiguity, Trump-era policy revival, implications for middle and small powers - Panel II: Countering Coercion: Indo-Pacific Responses to China’s Expansionism
Topics: South China Sea, Taiwan, tech decoupling, economic coercion - Panel III: The Role of India and ASEAN: Bridging North-South and East-West Divides
Topics: Strategic autonomy, infrastructure corridors, digital cooperation - Breakout Sessions:
- Session A: QUAD & AUKUS Plus — Strengthening Regional Security Architectures
- Session B: Supply Chain Sovereignty and the New Trade Geography
- Session C: Maritime Domain Awareness and Emerging Naval Doctrines
Day 2: Forging New Frameworks — Towards a Post-Hegemonic Indo-Pacific
- Panel IV: Reimagining Multilateralism: Can the Indo-Pacific Build Its Own Order?
Topics: Minilateralism, regional institutions, alternative frameworks - Panel V: Strategic Narratives and Soft Power: Whose Indo-Pacific Is It?
Topics: Media influence, diaspora diplomacy, academic and cultural narratives - Closing Panel: Charting the Way Forward: Regional Cooperation Without Dependency
Includes conference synthesis and IPSC policy preview - Roundtable Discussions (Invite-only Tracks):
- Track 1: Youth and Emerging Leaders in Indo-Pacific Diplomacy
- Track 2: Indo-Pacific Tech and Cyber Governance
- Track 3: Climate-Security Nexus in Small Island States
Submission Guidelines
- Panel proposals must include a title, a brief abstract (150–250 words), and proposed panelists/moderator (if known).
- All panels should be structured for 75 minutes, including audience Q&A.
- Proposals are welcome from academic institutions, think tanks, NGOs, and independent experts.
- We strongly encourage proposals that reflect regional diversity and policy relevance.

About the Call
The Indo-Pacific Studies Center (IPSC) invites panel proposals for the 2025 State of the Indo-Pacific Conference. We are seeking dynamic, interdisciplinary sessions that address the Indo-Pacific's evolving geopolitical, security, economic, climate, and governance challenges. Panels should feature original insights, diverse perspectives, and practical policy relevance.
Submission Guidelines
- Panel Title (max 15 words)
- Abstract (250–300 words)
- Panel Chair and 3–4 Confirmed Speakers
- Short Bios (50–100 words each)
- Preferred Format (In-person, hybrid, virtual)
We welcome submissions from individuals and institutions regardless of nationality, location, institutional affiliation, or career stage. IPSC encourages contributions that reflect the diversity of the Indo-Pacific and beyond, including proposals from early-career researchers, practitioners, civil society, and those representing underrepresented or emerging regions. All proposals will be assessed solely on their academic and professional merit, including originality, relevance, and clarity.

Submit a Roundtable Proposal
In addition to panel submissions, IPSC invites proposals for moderated roundtable discussions at the 2025 State of the Indo-Pacific Conference (9–10 October, Melbourne, New Delhi & Online). Roundtables should be dynamic 60–75 minute dialogues focused on policy challenges, regional cooperation, innovation, and strategic futures.
Roundtable Submission Guidelines
- Title of Roundtable (max 15 words)
- Roundtable Summary (200–300 words)
- Facilitator/Moderator name and affiliation
- List of 3–5 confirmed discussants (name + role)
- Format preference (in-person / hybrid / virtual)
We encourage proposals featuring diverse regional representation and practitioner-academic collaboration.
